Dream Valley - For A Special Lady

Well it's that time again..another two weeks have passed and we have a new challenge for you over at Dream Valley Challenges...this week we would like to see your create something "For A Special Lady"..we are sponsored by the super lovely Krista of Saturated Canary ....the lucky winner will receive a $10 voucher for her store :0)

the DT were lucky enough to be given some images to work with....I've coloured the gorgeous "Ratatouille"

I've teamed her with a LOTV  friendship recipe stamp and some gorgeous MME papers...I've also added a few flat back pearls, ribbon and a couple of MS butterflies....the image is coloured with Flex and ProMarkers...i tried a new hair combo for this..what do you think??..and as i always get asked for the colours i made a special effort this time so here goes...


Hair - Pastel Yellow, Ginger, Terracotta, Cocoa, Walnut, Shale
Skin - Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Putty, Baby Pink
Dress - Pinks - Cardinal Red, Antique Pink, Dusky Rose, Tea Rose(flex), Muted Pink(flex)
Greens - Khaki, Pastel Beige, Soft Green, Pastel Green, Grey Green, Tea Green
Apron - Cappuccino, Champagne and Linen flex
Shoes - Shale, Walnut, Cocoa

Redonkulous Inspiration Day

The Sugar Bowl and More...

Hello peeps..just popping on to share a "for fun" card..don't seem to have done any for a while :0)...I've dug out some of my fave SU papers and teamed it with an old favourite...

she's an Elisabeth Bell stamp originally from Sugar Nellie :0)...I've coloured her hair with Copic Ciao's and the rest is coloured with ProMarkers.....hope you likey :0)

Hair Tutorial 2 - Red/Ginger

Today I'm sharing my Favourite colour combo when colouring Red/Ginger hair..hope you find it useful :0)..Im again colouring the gorgeous Saturated Canary digi Smashy Bob :0)

You will need the following colours..Oatmeal, Honeycomb, Spice, Burnt Orange, Rosewood Flex

if you don't have the flexmarkers you could try using Chestnut in the PM's for the darkest colour :0)

so it's the same principal as the Black Hair Tut .. I lay down the base colour this time Oatmeal and then build up with a flicking motion...

next up is Honeycomb

then Spice...

and Burnt Orange.. 

I then went over again with the same colours to build up the definition..

I decided it still needed more depth especially at the roots so went in the the Rosewood Flex..

and then repeated laying down all the colours until I was happy..

I again sectioned off the next part of her hair to make it easier to colour...and started again with the oatmeal building up as i went along

and this is the end result..

remember the hair will tend to be darkest at it's roots and underneath where the jaw line is....or if it's pushed back with a clip or in this case a pencil...

Isn't she just adorable....

I've coloured with a mix of Copic Ciao, Flex and ProMarkers...papers are MME All Spice...finished off with a little twine and punched flower :0)

I would like to enter the challenge over at Sweet Stampin' where they want to see "Girly but no Pink" and Paper Sundaes where "Anything Goes"

A SMASH-ing birthday........

well it's my bestests birthday today..Happy Birthday Lou :0)..so I can finally share the card I made for her...now I'm not yet into the whole Smash book / journalling thing but Lou has created some ah-maz-ing pages (check them out on her blog )...so I created a smash book inspired card..well I think I have!!??...hubby's response was..WTF?!!..that's just mental...hopefully I'll receive a better response from my crafty friends....

I've used the gorgeous Smashy Curls from Saturated Canary ..and given her purple hair just like Lou :0)...

the image is coloured with PM's  and  I've added a bit of everything..lace..buttons..swirls..pearls..die cut flutterbys..bling....i was trying to emulate a little of what was in the smash book pages she's holding...so what do you think??..is it just too mental??

Hair Tutorial 1 - Black Hair

Well I'm back with another tutorial..this time for hair..I've had requests for  different colours so today's is "BLACK HAIR".... I recommend using a good quality card as i do tend to lay quite a lot of colour down and you don't want it to bleed.. I prefer craftworks digital smooth but there are many other's out there...

I've used the following colours....Soft Mauve Flex Marker and the following ProMarkers.. Ice Grey 1 to 5, Cool Grey 5 and Black..and I'm again colouring the gorgeous "Smashy Bob" from Saturated Canary


don't worry if you don't have the same greys..work light to dark and if necessary build your lightest shade up first :0)

First of all I cover the whole of the area I'm colouring with Soft Mauve..it give's you a base layer to help blend your colours and add's extra dimension :0)....

....next up i add the Ice Grey 1 using small flicking actions...

...I then repeat with Ice Grey 2....

..Ice Grey 3...

...Ice Grey 4...

...and Ice Grey 5...

....then to add extra depth i go in with Cool Grey 5..

i then start working back over the area repeating the colours...

..I then go in with a little Black..but not too much...

and again go over the entire image always using a flicking motion -  this will add texture to the hair as you don't want to overblend :0)

i do the next part of the hair in sections...

if it helps use one of the darker greys to add sections...

..and when your finished it should look something like this....

Basic Skin Tutorial

I often get asked about the Pro Marker colours i use for skin..

so here's a quick tut on what works best for me :0)

these are my preferred colours

I start by going around the edges and what I think will be the darkest areas with Coral..also adding line where the nose is to help add extra depth

next up I bring the colour in further with Sunkissed Pink....you don't have to be too neat as we will blend at the end

I then add colour to the cheeks with Baby Pink...

and finally i go over the whole area with Putty...

and that's the basics....the gorgeous image is "Smashy Bob" from Saturated Canary :0)

..as I've said before I'm no expert this is just how i do it ..hope it helps..

Happy Easter

Well I did my last shift at work today for a whole week...yay!!!..so I'm having a rest and putting the craft stuff away for a few days...but before i do I've a couple more Easter Cards to share :0)

 I've coloured with Copic Ciao, Flex and ProMarkers...the papers are MME *thinks??...Bloom and Grow??...

the cards are for a brother and sister so the Wryn image from Tiddly inks was perfect for my second card...

she's also coloured with a mix of markers and the papers are Forever Friends :0)

First Redonkulous DT Card

Yay..my first posting for Rendonkulous Designs!!..I just love Sheryl's fabulous images :0)..

Today I'm showcasing "Birthday Kisses"..how cute??...

I've coloured the image with a mix of Copic Ciao, Flex and ProMarkers..the gorgeous papers were cut from some 12" x 12" i had..the presents were also cut from the paper..a few flat backed pearls and twine and we're finished....I wanted to keep it fairly simple as i wanted the super cute image to be the main focus :0)
